Some states impose a waiting period for the parties to remarry after their divorce. If any of the parties marries during the waiting period, such a marriage would be voidable rather than void – that means, it would be capable of being set aside by the court.

In the state of Texas, if a person has been divorced by a decree of a court, the waiting period is 30 days, i.e. the person cannot remarry within 30 days unless the couple is remarrying each other or the prohibition has been waived by a court order for a good cause. This means that in Texas one has to wait for a period of 30 days to remarry another person after divorce.
